Retail Unbundling - Arkansas


Status: The state has no unbundled service programs for residential customers.


Overview: No retail unbundling program is being considered at this time by either the Arkansas Public Service Commission or the state legislature. Large-volume industrial and commercial consumers can purchase their own gas if they can show that they are near a pipeline.


EIA State Data: In 2002, Arkansas had 553,192 residential and 71,530 commercial customers who consumed 39 and 33 billion cubic feet (Bcf) of natural gas, respectively. The average prices paid for natural gas purchased from local distribution companies by residential and commercial customers were $8.95 and $7.05 per thousand cubic feet, respectively.
