Retail Unbundling - Utah

Status: The state has no unbundled service programs for residential customers.

Overview: No retail unbundling program is being considered at this time by either the Utah Division of Public Utilities or the state legislature. Only industrial customers have the ability to select their natural gas suppliers.

EIA State Data: In 2001, Utah had 657,728 residential and 47,477 commercial customers. They consumed 55 and 31 billion cubic feet of natural gas, respectively. The average prices paid for natural gas purchased from local distribution companies by residential and commercial customers were $8.09 and $6.78 per thousand cubic feet, respectively. The average city gate price in Utah was $5.61 per thousand cubic feet.
