Florida Public Service Commission Privacy Policy
Thank you for visiting the Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) Web site and
for taking the time to review our privacy policy. Our policy is not to collect any
personal information about you during your visit to our site unless you choose to
provide such information to us. If you choose to provide us with your personal information
through online Web forms or the e-mail address listed on the Web site, we will not
disclose that information to any other persons or agencies outside of the PSC unless
required to do by the public records law (Chapter
119, Florida Statutes). Under Florida law, e-mail addresses are public records.
If you do not want your e-mail address released in response to a public-records
request, do not send electronic mail to this entity. Instead, contact this office
by phone or in writing.
While users browse the pages and documents on the PSC Web site, logs will collect
certain data that provides us with information on the most and least popular sections
of the Web site, what types of technologies our visitors our using, and what other
Web sites or search engines have referred our visitors to us. Collection of these
visitor statistics in no way identifies you personally.
We automatically collect and store only the following information about your visit:
- The Internet domain (an organization's unique name on the Internet, e.g. anyname.com)
or IP address (the address of a computer attached to a TCP/IP network, e.g. 123.123.12.1)
from which you access our Web site. These addresses are most commonly those of your
Internet service provider and not of your individual computer.
- The type of browser and operating system used to access the site.
- The date and time our site and individual pages on our site are accessed.
- The frequency with which a particular page or document is accessed from the same
IP address.
Note: Some IP addresses generate persistent activity over an extended
period of time (through automatic data mining procedures) that cause parts of the
PSC Web site to become inaccessible to other users. Temporary cookies
(1) are used in the measurement of activity created from each
IP address. We then use these cookies in procedures that regulate the amount of
activity a particular IP address generates, thereby ensuring optimal accessibility
to all users.
All cookies will automatically expire and therefore be deleted from the user's machine
after 20 minutes. No information collected by the cookie is ever sent to the PSC.
- The name of referring Web sites.
- The name of referring search engines and the keywords used to search for the information
found on the PSC Web site.
