ACCOUNTING SERVICES and PAYROLL MANAGER (HQ - Westminster, CO)

Responsible for managing, directing and planning the Payroll functions for Tri-State and the Accounting Services functions for other entities for which Tri-State provides accounting services. Accounting Services include financial reporting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, and assisting in the development and maintenance of proper accounting policies and practices. Payroll functions include developing and maintaining proper payroll policies and practices, including compliance with IRS requirements.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or closely related discipline.

  • Eight (8) years of progressive accounting experience to include a minimum of four (4) years as an accounting supervisor.

  • Extensive knowledge of accounting principles and practices.

  • Extensive knowledge of state and federal regulations applicable to the accounting and payroll functions.

ASSOCIATE ACCOUNTANT (Payroll) (HQ - Westminster , CO)

Assist in all technical accounting duties for the payroll function.

COMBUSTION TURBINE TECHNICIAN I - JL (Generation South, Pyramid Station) (Generation South, Pyramid Station - Lordsburg, New Mexico)

Responsible for the safe and efficient operations and maintenance of plant activities at the combustion turbine power plant.

(The following duties are for a JL Combustion Turbine Technician. Duties for Technician I- IV are similar but less in overall scope, responsibility, and accountability.)

    Requires at least one (1) year of experience as a Combustion Turbine Technician IV.

  • Six (6) years of power plant experience which may consist of an equivalent combination of related education and/or power plant experience.

  • Must have strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repair skills.

CONSTRUCTION FIELD REPRESENTATIVE (HQ or Any Staffed Transmission Field Facility Office )

Responsible for directing, coordinating and quality control of the contract construction of substation, telecommunication and transmission projects, including the verification of the performance of contractors and consultants.

  • Seven (7) years of progressive experience in construction management, inspection or utility maintenance to include four (4) years experience in construction, inspection or maintenance of substation, transmission lines or electric utility related projects. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related engineering discipline may substitute for part of the experience requirements.

  • Knowledge of electrical construction practices and quality testing of electrical systems in substations.

  • Extensive knowledge of safety policies and procedures, including NESC, OSHA and RUS guidelines.

  • Knowledge of construction scheduling, documentation and administration and compliance of same.

  • Must be able to obtain authorization to hold electric system clearances and issue work permits within six months. Experience with high voltage switching preferred.

  • Working knowledge of government regulations and industry standards affecting electric utilities.

  • Willingness to travel, more than 60% of the time and possession of valid Colorado driver's license or ability to obtain.

COUNTY PERMITTING ADMINISTRATOR (HQ - Westminster , CO)

Responsible for planning, directing, and managing county permitting functions including obtaining land use permits for generation, transmission and substation projects and maintaining relationships with county commissioners.

  • Bachelor's degree in related area or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

  • Ten (10) years experience in meeting and working with public entities and counties for the permitting required for electrical facilities; at least four (4) years of land use related experience,.

  • Adequate knowledge of state and local land related laws.

CREDIT RISK ADMINISTRATOR (Replaces Sr. Analyst - Credit Risk posting) (HQ - Westminster, CO)

Responsible for developing, recommending and administration of a credit risk program including evaluating, approving, setting, monitoring, negotiating and increasing company credit exposure limits as required meeting company financial objectives, and developing and implementing related credit risk metrics in support of credit risk responsibilities.

ENGINEER I - SENIOR (I&C - CRAIG) (Craig Station, Craig, CO )

Tri-State is a Denver based progressive and rapidly growing non-profit consumer owned wholesale supplier of electric power to forty-four distribution cooperatives in Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska and New Mexico. With over 1100 employees, Tri-State operates and maintains fossil fuel power plants with owned coal-fired capacity of 1826 megawatts, gas turbines with 526 megawatts of capacity, and over 5000 miles of high voltage transmission lines.

ENTERPRISE RISK MANAGEMENT ANALYST (HQ - Westminster, CO )

Responsible for assisting with identifying, developing, implementing and maintaining an enterprise risk management program to minimize the effects of risks on company performance objectives. Also responsible for assisting with the oversight of corporate efforts to ensure compliance with Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Standards of Conduct (SOC) requirements.

  • Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, economics, or other relevant business discipline or equivalent experience.

  • Eight (8) years of progressive related experience in auditing or business data modeling, analysis and evaluation, preferably involving enterprise performance risk management, including statistical analysis.

  • Requires an understanding and a working knowledge of historical and current FERC Standards of Conduct requirements, documents and associated rules particularly as they impact the electric utility industry.

  • Working knowledge of generally accepted enterprise risk management principles and practices as well as knowledge of auditing practices.

  • Working knowledge of computer based risk management analytical tools and systems, personal computers, data bases, spreadsheets, report writers, and/or computer programming.

Responsible for assisting in developing, planning, preparing and monitoring environmental studies and reports for assigned projects regarding air, water quality, hazardous waste and toxic substance compliance programs.

FEDERAL GOVERNMENT RELATIONS MANAGER (HQ - Westminster , CO)

Under the direction of the Senior Vice President, External Affairs, is responsible for identifying current and emerging key public policy issues that could have significant impact to Tri-State, analyzing the political environment associated with the issue, and preparing strategic and tactical recommendations for policy positions. INVENTORY ASSISTANT/FREIGHT SPECIALIST (HQ - Westminster, CO)

Provides full support and assistance to the areas of materials control and freight transportation. Responsible for inventory system record updating, unloading and distribution of freight and approval of freight invoices.

  • Four (4) years experience in Utility Inventory Control, Freight Handling and/or equivalent combination of college education.

JL ELECTRICIAN (Craig, CO) (Generation West - Craig Station)

Position is located at Tri-State's coal fired power plant, Craig Station, at Craig, CO, which is in the northwestern part of the state.

Responsible for performing electrical maintenance work on coal fired power plant equipment and systems.

  • Must have:

  • (A) Successfully completed 4 year apprentice program recognized by Tri-State in the electrical field and 2 years of practical experience in maintenance of industrial electrical and electro-mechanical controls equipment; OR
  • (B) An Associate's Degree program in electrical and electro-mechanical controls, and 4 years of practical experience in maintenance of industrial electrical and electro-mechanical controls and equipment; OR
  • (C) The equivalent technical training received in approved courses; and 4 years of practical experience in maintenance of industrial electrical and electro-mechanical controls and equipment; OR
  • (D) 10 years of experience in the industrial field as a JL Electrician.

TRANSMISSION OPERATIONS ASSISTANT I-IV (HQ - Westminster , CO)

Responsible for acknowledging and responding to real-time Open-Access Same-Time Information System (OASIS) requests for transmission reservations and usage, and Electronic Tagging of energy transactions.
