A Climate Contingency Roadmap for the U.S. Electricity Sector: Phase II (PDF 192 KB)
This roadmap examines the role of the electric sector in climate change and the sectoral impacts of alternative climate policy designs. The document explores the capabilities and costs of emissions reduction options and the influence of company-specific circumstances on the design of cost-effective response strategies. It also investigates mechanisms to create incentives for support of advanced climate-related technology research, development, and demonstration.

Electric Power Research Institute Roadmap
The Electric Power Research Institute is initiating an effort to develop an industry-wide Electric Technology Roadmap, which will explore the broad range of benefits for society that can be realized by a strong and continuing commitment to scientific and technological innovation.

National Rural Electric Cooperative Association Roadmap (PDF 1.9 MB)
This roadmap summarizes a comprehensive strategic planning process for the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) conducted by the Cooperative Research Network (CRN).

DOE's National Electric Vision Document (PDF 1.5 MB)
This document describes the common vision articulated at a meeting including 65 senior executives representing the electric utility industry, equipment manufacturers, information technology providers, Federal and state government agencies, interest groups, universities, and National Laboratories. The intent of the meeting was to identify a national vision of the future electric system, covering the entire value chain: generation, transmission, distribution, storage, and end use.

A National Vision of America's Transition to a Hydrogen Economy - To 2003 and Beyond (PDF 1.0 MB)
On November 15-16, 2001, 53 senior executives representing energy and transportation industries, universities, environmental organizations, Federal and state government agencies, and National Laboratories met to discuss the potential role for hydrogen systems in America's energy future. The intent of the meeting was to identify a common vision of the "hydrogen economy," the time frame in which such a vision could be expected to occur, and the key milestones that would need to be accomplished to get there.

National Hydrogen Energy Roadmap (PDF 2.0 MB)
Hydrogen has the potential to play a major role in America's future energy system. This roadmap outlines key issues and challenges in hydrogen energy development and suggests paths that government and industry can take to expand use of hydrogen-based energy.

Fuel Cell Report to Congress (PDF 1.1 MB)
The recommended program adjustments and public-private cooperative programs to develop and validate technology described in this report would produce the information necessary to determine if commercialization of fuel cell technology over a wide range of applications is viable by 2015.

Carbon Sequestration Technology Roadmap and Program Plan (PDF 5.5 MB)
This document is the current program vision of how to proceed in the development of carbon sequestration technology. It is both a roadmap and a program plan. The roadmap portion identifies RD&D pathways that lead to commercially viable carbon capture and sequestration systems. The program plan presents a course of action. Through a cooperative partnership of industry, academia, and government we have the best chance of success in developing viable carbon sequestration options.

The Vision for Bioenergy & Biobased Products in the United States establishes far-reaching goals for increasing the role of biobased energy and products in our nation's economy. This vision puts forth the challenge of pursuing the opportunities that biomass technologies hold for the United States.

California Energy Commission: Energy Systems Integration Reports
The Energy System Integration (ESI) Research Program takes a "systems approach" to improving the performance of the electricity system. The ESI Program is concerned with the integration into the electricity system of technologies developed in other parts of the PIER program. The ESI Program is also concerned with several issues that affect electricity system performance.
