CHEMICAL MANUFACTURING

Chemical Manufacturing - Technology Pathways

U.S. chemical producers recognize that energy efficiency offers a competitive edge in world markets. In 1996 the U.S. industry entered into partnership with ITP to work toward shared goals. Since then, the Chemical Industry of the Future partnership has been feeding the technology pipeline so that U.S. chemical producers will have the technologies they need to achieve their long-term economic, energy, and environmental goals.

The DOE's Industries of the Future process helps entire industries articulate their long-term goals and publish them in a unified vision for the future. To achieve that vision, industry leaders jointly define detailed R&D agendas known as roadmaps. ITP relies on roadmap-defined priorities to target cost-shared solicitations and guide development of a balanced R&D portfolio that yields useful results in the near, mid, and long term.

Industry Vision & Roadmaps

Technology Vision
In 1996 the publication of Technology Vision 2020 - The U.S. Chemical Industry lauched the Chemical Industry Vision2020 Technology Partnership (Vision2020). This landmark document establishes a long-term path for the future of the chemical industry based on key market, business, and environmental needs.

Technology Roadmaps
Roadmaps are the culmination of one or more workshops and an extensive industry review process to build consensus among stakeholders. Progress towards achieving the goals is monitored over time. To date, ten roadmaps have been drafted.

The following roadmaps are available for download as Adobe PDF documents. Download Acrobat Reader.
