API 4th Voluntary Actions Conference
API held its 4th Conference on Voluntary Actions by the Oil and Gas Industry to Address Climate Change in Washington, DC from December 4-5, 2006. The event was co-sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy. Speakers from industry, academia, and government presented papers on voluntary efforts undertaken to reduce carbon dioxide and methane emissions. The National Lime Association's (NLA's) Fall 2006 Operating Meeting and
Professional Development Seminar will focus on Energy Management and Improving
Energy Efficiency and CO2 Intensity. More than 120 representatives of NLA's 21
member companies attended these meetings in 2004, when they addressed energy
management and optimizing combustion.

Carbon Dioxide Capture and Geological Storage: Contributing to Climate Change Solutions IPIECA Workshop
Concern about climate change, and the challenges and risks it poses, will require sustained efforts to develop understanding and effective solutions while at the same time meeting the growing needs of society for energy. This workshop brings together experts from academia, business, and governments to consider CO2 capture and geological storage as a potential option for reducing emissions. The goal is to advance understanding of the role of CO2 capture and geological storage, and strategies to improve its performance and prospects.
