Be a part of the premier event for drinking water quality professionals around the world!

You are invited to submit abstracts for the American Water Works Association’s annual Water Quality Technology Conference(tm) and Exhibition. This event attracts 1,500 of the industry’s leading water quality experts each year for the exchange of the latest research and technical information. The technical program will be developed from abstracts covering all aspects of water quality and technology to attract the entire array of water quality professionals to the conference.

The 2009 WQTC technical program will be developed from abstracts rated by the 2009 Planning Committee composed of the Water Quality and Technology Division (WQTD) Trustees and Trustee Liaisons from the Water Resources Division (WQTD), Water Science and Research Division (WSRD), Distribution and Plant Operations Division (DPOD), Manufacturers/Associates Council (MAC), Standards Council (SC), and the Research Advisory Council (RAC).

The abstracts are rated for content and relevance to the

  • Background and Problem Statement
  • Project Description and Setup
  • Results
  • Significance to the Industry and Recommendations

Abstract topics include such subjects as monitoring and detection techniques, treatment processes, disinfection by-products, coagulation and filtration, organic and inorganic contaminants, distribution system water quality, UV and emerging issues, to name a few.

Technical Program

The 2009 WQTC technical program will be developed from both submitted and solicited papers. Abstracts are being solicited to cover all aspects of water quality and technology to attract the entire array of water quality professionals to the conference. Presentation formats will include pre-conference workshops, oral and poster technical sessions, special topic sessions, and equipment demonstrations. Contact hours will be available for selected technical sessions.

Contact Hours

AWWA is now offering continuing education credit as Contact Hours for technical sessions and Sunday workshops. For this reason, we are requesting additional information with your submission.

Presentation Format

  • Oral Presentations will be part of a technical session on a select topic. Presentations will be 22–25 minutes in length followed by a 5–8-minute discussion period.
  • Poster Presentations will be on display throughout the conference with set hours, by topic, for the author to be available for a technical question-and-answer period.
  • Pre-conference Workshops and Special Topic Sessions can be either a full day or half-day. Submissions are encouraged and must be submitted with all criteria outlined on the Workshop Request Form.

Proceedings

CD-ROM proceedings will be included in the registration fee and will be available at the conference. All author(s) must agree to submit a manuscript in the requested format to AWWA by August 24, 2009. Conference attendees expect and are entitled to a complete set of conference manuscripts. Authors who do not submit manuscripts by the deadline will be disqualified from presenting at the 2009 WQTC.

Workshop Participant Manuals

Workshop participant manuals are provided on-site for registered workshop attendees and are not included on the conference proceedings.

Presentation Topics

Authors are encouraged to submit abstracts for oral and poster presentations and requests for workshops, sessions, and panel discussions on topics relating to water distribution systems and plant operations. Topics to be covered at the 2009 conference include, but are not limited to
