EIA-176 Query System 2007
Release Date: November 19, 2008
Next Release Date: December 2009

Note:  The EIA-176 Query System 2007 is being released ahead of the Natural Gas Annual 2007 report.  Please note that 2007 monthly residential, commercial, and industrial natural gas consumption data will not be benchmarked to the EIA-176 Query System totals until the Natural Gas Annual 2007 is released.  End-use prices derived from the EIA-176 query will match the Natural Gas Annual 2007 except in the residential and commercial sector in States where data from the EIA-910 Monthly Natural Gas Marketer Survey is used as a component to prices.    Currently those States are DC (Commercial only), FL, GA, MD, MI (Commercial Only), NJ (Residential only), NY, OH, PA and VA.  The Form EIA-176 is not the source of EIA’s natural gas consumption or prices in the electric power sector, and the totals obtained from the EIA-176 Query System will not match electric power sector data found elsewhere on the EIA website or in the Natural Gas Annual.  If you have questions or need assistance, please contact Amy Sweeney at amy.sweeney@eia.doe.gov or (202) 586-2627.

The EIA-176 Query system contains responses submitted by respondents from an identified universe of  operators of fields, wells or gas processing plants who distribute gas to end users or transport gas across State border; distribute natural gas, transport natural gas by pipeline; or operate underground natural gas storage facilities.

The query system application is a Windows-based system which runs under Windows operating systems 95, 98, 2000, NT - 4.0 Service Pack 3 or later. It provides a method of extracting and using the company level data filed on the Form EIA-176, and saving the query results in various media and formats. There are pre-selected data queries, which allow the user to select and run the most often-used queries, as well as the ability to create a customized query. Self-extracting executable files with run-time versions of Access are required to set up the system. You may also download the data tables if you already have Microsoft Access on your computer or download the query system via a zip file if you do not have administrator privileges on your PC.  For instructions, please refer to the documentation listed below.
