12-23-08 - Corn Dryer Incident at Glacial Lakes Energy, LLC-Watertown, SD At approximately 11:55 a.m. on December 23, 2008 the Watertown Fire Department was called to Glacial Lakes Energy in Watertown, SD to assist with the contained dryer fire. The fire was contained to the inside of the dryer and caused only minimal exterior damage. There were no injuries to facility personnel and the public safety was not at risk. As a precautionary measure corn delivery trucks were delayed unit the Fire Department was satisfied that no ongoing danger existed. Normal corn deliveries should resume mid afternoon.

Featured speakers included Governor Mike Rounds, Represenative Bob Faehn, and a performance by Miss South Dakota. The Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce also held a ribbon cutting on site. 06-29-08 - Glacial Lakes Energy, LLC—Mina, SD Start Up
Mina began grinding corn on June 29, 2008. Start up has gone very well with only minor issues. We are currently performing our seven day performance test and things are looking very good. We will ship our first load of ethanol within the next week. Our employees are doing an excellent job and learning quickly regarding how to operate the equipment as well as the plant in general. We have set our Grand Opening for September 4, 2008 at 11:00 am at the site.
