Circular Letter No. 610

April 26 , 2006

TO: Printing and Publishing Officials of the Federal Government

SUBJECT: GPO’s New 951-M Contract for onsultation Services and On-Site Printing and Copying Production Services

The Government Printing Office (GPO) is pleased to announce its new 951-M Task Order Service Contract. This innovative new contract can help your organization significantly reduce costs by providing two ways for GPO to support your needs: Consultation Services and On-Site Printing and Copying Production Services. An on-site printing and copying contract saved one GPO customer agency $220,000 in its first year, which was nearly 50 percent of the costs to operate the facility the previous year!

951-M Consultation Services can include a needs assessment and efficiency analysis of your existing on-site printing, duplicating, and copying production operations from private vendors. This customized analysis can provide recommendations regarding equipment (purchase, rental to purchase, rental versus lease, contractor-furnished and operated) and the feasibility of document-production outsourcing and conversion.

951-M On-Site Printing and Copying Production Services can cover the full-range of services required to operate and manage agency printing facilities and include: An assessment of printing/copying operations; comprehensive reports and milestone schedules for equipment acquisition (including required training and projected costs); a quality control system that monitors and ensures the quality of services provided; and an ongoing dialogue with the contractor and GPO on the overall status of the process from start to finish to guarantee sound results. Agencies can benefit from the following advantages:

  • A streamlined, negotiated procurement model for faster processing
  • Maximized facility utilization and improved cost efficiency
  • High-quality printing and publishing services to the customer
  • Increased and more efficient productivity within agency facilities
  • A wealth of information from some of the most knowledgeable professionals within the industry
  • Access to the most thorough and comprehensive quality control requirements available
  • Frequent, consistent monitoring of job status for better overall results

To receive additional information, please contact your GPO National Account Manager by phone 202-512-1904, fax 202-512-2029, or email to infonam@gpo.gov.

Sincerely,

JIM BRADLEY
