Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senators Thad Cochran and Trent Lott announced that the U.S. Senate has confirmed James Greenlee of Oxford to be U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Mississippi.

Greenlee has served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Northern District since 1987. He received his law degree in 1981 from the University of Mississippi, and he practiced law with the firm of Taylor and Whitwell in Southaven, Mississippi.

Cochran said, "Jim Greenlee's excellent character and experience will enable him to serve our state with distinction as U.S. Attorney for the Northern District in Mississippi."

"This overwhelming Senate vote clearly reflects the confidence which Senator Cochran, myself and our Senate colleagues have in Jim Greenlee's outstanding record and strong experience," Senator Lott said. "He will begin this job as one of the most qualified U.S. Attorney's in the country."
