SENATOR THAD COCHRAN (R-MS) COMMENTS ON THE PRESIDENT'S ADDRESS TO THE JOINT MEETING ON CONGRESS

"I think this is clearly a time for all Americans to unite with the President to demonstrate our commitment to do everything we can to see that justice is done to those who perpetrated this terrorism and to also ensure that we take every possible step to see that this kind of thing doesn't happen again. I think it's also incumbent upon all of us in each of our roles to make sure we use our best efforts to rise to the challenge that the President has put before this country. We've got to give him the tools and the Administration the tools to do a more effective job of law enforcement. We've got to give the military the resources that they need in order to wage a war against terrorism effectively, so that our men and women will be able to return home safely when this is done. We need to make sure we do what we can to strengthen the economy, work hard, and do all of the things that will make our country stronger in the future. It may be a temptation to really get down and to be depressed. This is not a time to get depressed and get down on ourselves as a country. We need to resolve that we're going to conquer this. We're going to do everything we can to make sure that liberty and freedom prevail over fear and terror."
