PRESS ALERT FOR MISSISSIPPI MEDIA SENATOR COCHRAN ATTENDS EVENTS IN MISSISSIPPI MAY 24-30

U. S. Senator Thad Cochran (R-MS) will attend events in Mississippi over the Memorial Day Recess from Friday, May 24, until Thursday, May 30.

Senator Cochran will address Delta Council's Annual Meeting at 10:00 a.m. (Central) on Friday, May 24, at the Bologna Center for the Performing Arts located on the campus of Delta State University in Cleveland. Following the program there will be a press conference that the Senator will attend.

Later on May 24, the Senator will address the New Albany High School 2002 Commencement at 8:00 p.m. (Central) in the school's auditorium on campus located at 201 Highway 15 North in New Albany.

On Saturday, May 25, at 2:00 p.m. (Central), Senator Cochran will be the featured speaker at the St. Joseph Catholic School graduation. The graduation will take place at the school, 308 New Mannsdale Road, in Madison.

Senator Cochran will be interviewed on Channel 16 WAPT-TV's morning news program on Monday, May 27, at 6:30 a.m. (Central) to discuss the farm bill and base closure issues from the station's studios in Jackson.

Also, on May 27, at 2:00 p.m. (Central), the Senator will address the Memorial Day ceremony dedicating and naming the Northeast Veterans' Tower at the Northeast Mississippi Community College, Cunningham Boulevard, in Booneville. The event is hosted by the Board of Trustees of Northeast Community College and the veterans from the five county region of northeast Mississippi.

Senator Cochran will speak at the "Campaign for Hinds" fundraiser breakfast on Wednesday, May 29, at 7:30 a.m. (Central). The event to raise money for the Hinds Community College Development Foundation will be held at the University Club in Jackson.

On Thursday, May 30, at 12:15 p.m.(Central), the Senator will attend the Spanish Trail District Spring Workshop luncheon hosted by the Lucedale Garden Club. Following the luncheon, the Senator will attend the dedication and ribbon cutting of a Historical Marker presented for Lucedale and George County's long-term commitment to the Ornamental Horticultural Industry. The ribbon cutting will take place at 1:30 p.m. (Central) at the George County Courthouse. Senator Cochran will cut the ribbon at the event.

Also, on May 30, Senator Cochran will address the "Destination Democracy" event hosted by the Kids Voting Mississippi program at 7:30 p.m. (Central) at the J.L. Scott Marine Education Center in Biloxi.
