January 28, 2008 Dr. Howard Frumkin Atlanta, Georgia 30345 Dear Dr. Frumkin: The stated mission of the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) “is to serve the public by using the best science, taking responsive public health actions, and providing trusted health information to prevent harmful exposures and disease related to toxic substances.” One of its tasks is to provide “health consultations” to federal and state agencies on the potential health effects of human exposure to toxic and hazardous substances, such as formaldehyde.
