On March 11, 2008, NASA launched the Space Shuttle Endeavour en route to the International Space Station. As an advocate for science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education, Chairman Gordon invited 10 teachers from his Middle Tennessee Congressional District to attend the shuttle launch at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Prior to the shuttle launch, the teachers attended a NASA workshop where they were provided with an itinerary Chairman Gordon and NASA officials developed to help build enthusiasm for math and science among their students.
