Action On Cultural Diversity

During the 110th Congress, I have agreed to co-sponsor the following selected measures which deal with cultural diversity. This is not a comprehensive list of all the legislation I have co-sponsored related to diversity. Legislation I have supported includes:

  • S. 916, a bill to modify the boundary of the Minidoka Internment National Monument, to establish the Minidoka National Historic Site, to authorize the Secretary of the Interior to convey certain land and improvements of the Gooding Division of the Minidoka Project, Idaho, and for other purposes. Introduced March 19, 2007.
  • S. 802, a bill to provide for the implementation of the Owyhee Initiative Agreement, and for other purposes.
  • S. 774, a bill to amend the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 to permit States to determine State residency for higher education purposes and to authorize the cancellation of removal and adjustment of status of certain alien students who are long-term United States residents and who entered the United States as children, and for other purposes. Introduced March 6, 2007.
  • S. 398, a bill to amend the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act to identify and remove barriers to reducing child abuse, to provide for examinations of certain children, and for other purposes. Introduced January 25, 2007.
  • S. 268, a bill to designate the Ice Age Floods National Geologic Trail, and for other purposes. Introduced January 11, 2007.
  • S.Res. 236, a resolution supporting the goals and ideals of the National Anthem Project, which has worked to restore America's voice by re-teaching Americans to sing the national anthem. Introduced June 14, 2007.
  • S.J.Res. 4, a joint resolution to acknowledge a long history of official depredations and ill-conceived policies by the United States Government regarding Indian tribes and offer an apology to all Native Peoples on behalf of the United States. Introduced March 1, 2007.
  • S.Con.Res. 10, a concurrent resolution honoring and praising the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People on the occasion of its 98th anniversary. Introduced February 12, 2007.
