Frances
Perkins was born on April 10, 1882, at Boston, Massachusetts.
Ms. Perkins served as Secretary of Labor for 12
years, from 1933 to 1945. During this time, she
received several threats and extortion letters and
sometimes required extra protection for her safety.
When she left the post of Secretary of Labor, she
went to work at the Civil Service Commission. In
1952, the FBI conducted a background investigation
of Perkins at the request of the White House.
