Inauguration Day reservations closed
The Office of Congressman Charlie Dent today announced that due to an unprecedented amount of requests for Inauguration Day swearing-in tickets, the office is no longer taking reservations for the waiting list.
Prior to Election Day, Congressman Dent’s office began taking constituent requests for the free-of-charge tickets by placing orders on a first-come, first-served waiting list. Constituents have been advised since the outset that a space on the waiting list was not a guarantee to receive tickets.
Although the amount of tickets to be allotted is not yet publicly announced, at this point it is apparent that the requests on the waiting list will far exceed supply, even accounting for cancellations. Unfortunately, anyone calling with requests at this point would have no chance to be granted tickets.
Tickets will not be distributed to Congressional offices until the week before the inauguration and will require in-person pick-up.
Congressman Dent suggests that constituents who are unable to acquire tickets to the swearing-in, but still interested in this historic occasion, consider other Inauguration Day events, available at the Web site of the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies (JCCIC), http://inaugural.senate.gov/2009/index.cfm.
Congressman Dent also cautions his constituents to be wary of commercial entities claiming to have inauguration tickets for sale. No Web site or other ticket outlet actually has tickets to sell, regardless of what they may claim. ###
