Sen. Salazar's Statement on the Resignation of HUD Secretary Alphonso Jackson

WASHINGTON, DC – United States Senator Ken Salazar released the following statement in response to Alphonso R. Jackson’s decision to resign as Secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD):

“Secretary Jackson’s alleged conflicts of interest and the resulting investigations into his conduct seriously compromised his ability to effectively lead the Department of Housing and Urban Development, particularly during a time when strong leadership is exactly what is needed to address the growing housing crisis.

“It is my hope that the Administration will take this opportunity to appoint a new Housing Secretary that will work with Congress to develop real, bipartisan solutions to the housing crisis, which is at the center of America’s current economic downturn.”
