US Senator Orrin Hatch
Environment and Agriculture
Utah is known throughout the world for its scenic treasures, and helping to preserve Utah’s natural beauty continues to be one of my top priorities. I have worked to protect our environment by ensuring our laws and policies are based on sound science and promote new and innovative environmentally friendly technologies.

The West — and Utah in particular — faces unique environmental challenges that require responsible and innovative solutions. We must act to protect our natural resources in a way that promotes cleaner air, water, and soil, while supporting Utah’s economy.

A critical component of preserving our natural resources is ensuring that we adopt forward-thinking policies for the agriculture industry. It is time for our nation to move beyond the stale farm policies of the past, which tend to focus on a few commodity crops. Congress needs to shape an agricultural policy for all farmers, giving them a strong safety net, building stronger rural communities, and providing more support for conservation programs.
