E-Mail Topics and Methods

E-Mail offers a quick and convenient method for New Mexicans to communicate with me, and vice versa.  The topics and communications types outlined in this section help my office take advantage of that convenience to offer better service to my constituents.

TOPICS

An important part of managing the flow of e-mails I receive is to ensure that they are sorted correctly when they enter my office.  By defining the topic of the message you are sending me, you help my staff process your e-mail more efficiently.

(Some of the e-forms on this site will already have the topic selected, and you won't be able to change it.  That's because you selected that form from an area of the site already related to that topic.)

Legislative issue.  Select this if you're using this form to comment, express an opinion, or ask a question about a legislative matter that is important to you.

Agency assistance.  Select this topic if you want my staff to help you in your interactions with a federal agency, such as the Social Security Administration or the Department of Veterans Affairs.  Before you send an e-mail, however, be sure to read the information in the Casework section of this website.

Flag request.  Select this topic if you need information about flying a flag over the Capitol or want an update on a pending flag request.  Before you send an e-mail, however, be sure to read the information on my flag requests page.

Tour request.  Select this topic to alert my staff that you would like us to help arrange tours for your upcoming visit to Washington.  Before you send an e-mail, however, be sure to read the information on my Visiting DC page.

Internship program.  Select this topic if you want more information on becoming an intern in either my Washington, DC office or any of my offices in New Mexico.  Before you send an e-mail, though, be sure to read the Internship section of this website.

Academy appointment.  Select this topic if you are seeking information about an appointment to a military academy.  Before you send an e-mail, though, be sure to read the Academy Nominations section on this website.

METHODS OF COMMUNICATION

Several factors influence how you can most efficiently direct your message to me.  These include the urgency of your request and which of my offices is primarily responsible for that service or issue.

For example, some of the services I offer, like casework, are handled in my New Mexico offices for convenience to my constituents.  For those types of communications, you should contact my nearest local office, so that no time is lost rerouting your message from Washington.  Other things, like policy issues, are handled by my Washington office. Still others, like interns, are handled in all my offices.

The selections on the Contact Me page will direct you to the correct place to direct your message to me.

(Rest assured:  if your message goes to the wrong place, my staff will reroute it to the correct place with as little time lost as possible.)
