Washington, D.C. – With the last vote of the 110th Congress cast last week, Wisconsin stood as one of only two states in the nation whose U.S. senators did not miss a single vote over the two-year span. Wisconsin’s U.S. Senators Russ Feingold and Herb Kohl cast each of the 657 votes in 2007 and 2008, the years making up the 110th Congress. The only other state to have perfect voting attendance from its two senators was Maine. Feingold and Kohl were two of seven U.S. senators who made every one of the 657 votes.

“Wisconsin elected me to do a job, and I’m honored to have the opportunity to do it,” said Feingold, who has missed only ten votes during his sixteen years in the U.S. Senate. “The people of Wisconsin have entrusted me with the responsibility of representing them and I take that responsibility very seriously. I will continue to do all I can to make sure the people of Wisconsin are heard from in the Senate.”

“Representing the people of Wisconsin in the U.S. Senate is a great honor I take very seriously,” Kohl said. “My constituents expect me to fulfill the important duties of being their Senator and to ensure their voice is heard in our nation’s capital.”

The other U.S. senators making each of the 657 votes were Olympia Snowe (R-ME), Susan Collins (R-ME), Ken Salazar (D-CO), Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Bob Casey (D-PA). Senator John Barrasso (R-WY), who succeeded the late Craig Thomas (R-WY), made each of the 431 votes cast after he took office.
