Salazar's Statement on Appointment of Dr. Patrick Gallagher as NIST Deputy Director WASHINGTON, DC – United States Senator Ken Salazar released the following statement in response to an announcement made today by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) that it will appoint Dr. Patrick Gallagher as its new Deputy Director: “I welcome Dr. Gallagher in his new role as Deputy Director of the National Institute of Standards and Technology. He has a hard road ahead of him in ensuring that safety programs at the NIST laboratories are brought up to appropriate standards in order to earn back the public’s trust.
