Sen. Salazar Statement on Senator Kennedy

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, United States Senator Ken Salazar released the following statement about the diagnosis of Senator Edward Kennedy.

“I am deeply saddened by the news regarding my dear friend and colleague, Ted Kennedy. Senator Kennedy has created an indelible legacy as one of the most effective members of the Senate and can easily be called one of the greatest Senators of our time.

“He is a tremendous champion for the people of Massachusetts and for the most vulnerable in our society. From comprehensive immigration reform to fighting to raise the minimum wage to working to provide healthcare for everyone, I respect and admire his compassion and unfailing commitment to give a voice to the voiceless. As a human being, as a colleague and as a friend, I admire the work he has done throughout his life to make our nation and our world a better place.

“Senator Kennedy has an abundance of tenacity and fight in him, and I have no doubt that he will find the strength to get through whatever treatment he and his family decide is appropriate. He and his family will continue to be in my heart and prayers and I look forward to the day Senator Kennedy returns to the United States Senate.”
