As a member of the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee, which has conducted 22 hearings on Katrina and published a comprehensive report, please know that I will continue to do all that I can to ensure that the victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita have every possible resource needed for their recovery. As a United States Senator, I feel it is my duty and responsibility to do so. Please be assured that I am listening to the concerns of my constituents, whether it is regarding the direction of the recovery efforts, the desire to see careful oversight of reconstruction spending, or concerns about oil and gas prices after Katrina, and urge you to continue voicing your views. It is important that we learn from the response and recovery experienced as the 2008 hurricane season is upon us.
