Washington – Senator Evan Bayh will host more than 140 high school student leaders from across the state this Saturday on National Make a Difference Day at his sixth annual Service Leader Summit in Indianapolis at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI).
“Indiana’s young people are energized in a way that, quite frankly, I’ve never seen before,” Senator Bayh said. “We’ve been hearing a lot about change lately: how Hoosiers are hungering for it and how we can make it real in our own communities. I believe Indiana’s greatest source of change is our next generation of leaders who have the passion and the talent to create a vibrant culture of service and volunteerism across our state. This is the sixth year I have hosted my youth service summit, and the enthusiasm levels this year are completely off the charts.”
IUPUI will co-host the Oct. 25 summit. It begins at 9:30 a.m. Saturday and is open to the media. Students will learn about the fundamentals of successful service and brainstorm volunteer projects they can replicate at home with other students. Also as part of the summit, student will participate in community service projects across Indianapolis with local service organizations, including Habitat for Humanity, the Felege Hiywot Center, Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, DAMAR Services and Gleaners Food Bank.
