Title: Agencies in Peril: Are We Doing Enough to Protect Federal IT and Secure Sensitive Information? |
Date: 3/12/08 |
Time (EST): 2:30 PM |
Place: Dirksen Senate Office Building, Rm. 342 |
This hearing will follow OMB’s FY 07 report to Congress on agencies’ Federal Information Security Management Act compliance. FISMA was first passed in 2002 and was intended to improve information security in civilian agencies. Although FISMA was a positive step forward at the time, key decision makers still cannot accurately say whether or not our computer networks are secure. The hearing will highlight the current status of the Federal Information Security Management Act within federal agencies and its implementation government-wide. In addition, the hearing will focus on what proactive steps can be taken by Congress and agencies to help further ensure sensitive information is secure and prevent intrusion by malicious users..
