October 15, 2008 ROCKEFELLER TO ANNOUNCE 150 NEW JOBS COMING TO SOUTH CHARLESTON THROUGH MATRICCharleston, W.Va. – Senator Jay Rockefeller announced that the Mid-Atlantic Technology, Research & Innovation Center (MATRIC) is forming the International Design Center in partnership with Butler International, Inc. – which will create over 150 new engineering and research and development jobs in South Charleston. “I am proud to announce these high-tech, good-paying jobs for West Virginians,” Rockefeller said. “The best way to improve our economy here at home is to provide job security, promote stability, and drive economic development. This announcement is a perfect example of something that’s being done right in these very trying times.” Rockefeller is a long-time supporter of jobs in the chemical industry, and applauded MATRIC for its announcement that it would work to re-hire displaced Dow employees. The International Design Center will be co-managed by MATE (Mid-Atlantic Technical Engineering, a subsidiary of MATRIC) and Butler International. It will focus engineering and design resources in the chemical, biofuels, energy, and aerospace industries. ###
