Internships

sealThank you for your interest in Senator Reed's internship programs.

Students interning for Senator Reed have the opportunity to learn about the legislative process and see firsthand the federal government at work.

Full-time and part-time paid internships are available in both the Rhode Island and Washington, DC offices for specific fall, spring, early summer, and late summer sessions. Interns must be currently enrolled in college or graduate school.

Candidates should complete an online application (see below) and send a résumé and cover letter stating why you want to intern for Senator Reed. Due to the large number of applications received, we are unable to offer an internship to everyone who applies. Preference will be given to Rhode Islanders.

Washington, DC Internships

Interns in the Washington, DC office will research legislative issues, attend briefings and committee hearings, answer constituent inquiries, conduct tours of the Capitol, and provide administrative, legislative, and press support to Senator Reed and his staff.

Rhode Island Internships

An internship in the Providence or Cranston office allows students to see how Senator Reed's work helps Rhode Islanders throughout the state. Interns assist in both research and policy initiatives as well as special projects and events. They also perform various administrative tasks such as greeting guests, drafting correspondence, and sorting mail.
