Michigan, Florida Senators Wager States's Products on NCAA Men's Final

Levin and Graham bet apples and oranges that their teams will prevail April 3, 2000

WASHINGTON – Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich., and Sen. Bob Graham, D-Fla., have bet Michigan apples and Florida oranges on the outcome of today's NCAA men's final between the Michigan State Spartans and the Florida Gators.

"I think this is an appropriate bet since comparing our fighting Spartans with the Florida Gators really is like comparing apples and oranges," Levin said today. "There is no comparison. I know the Spartans will crush the orange Gators tonight and I'll be celebrating with fresh Florida oranges later this week. My colleague Bob Graham can start checking out orange groves this afternoon to expedite the process."

Levin and Graham plan to meet later this week for the losing Senator to pay up.
