Manufacturing Workflow System

GPO is actively working on a project to replace its legacy Production, Estimating, and Planning System (PEPS) with a state-of-the-art Manufacturing Workflow System (MWS). The MWS will provide job entry, inquiry, scheduling, estimating, and tracking functionality for GPO’s Plant Operations and Customer Services. It will also integrate with evolving enterprise-wide systems, including GPO’s Federal Digital System (FDsys), Oracle Financial applications, Business Objects reporting tool applications, Pitney Bowes delivery tracking system, and the Address Distribution List Management System (ADMS).

MWS will be the enterprise resource planning system for GPO’s Plant Operations department. It will be responsible for collecting, maintaining, and managing all applicable job information that Plant Operations produces. MWS will align with GPO’s Strategic Vision for a 21st Century and the agency’s Enterprise Architecture.

Key Documents

MWS Requirements Document (RD) v.3.0: Defines the user requirements for the MWS and is intended to communicate what Government Printing Office users want and expect according to their various needs.

Supplement to the MWS Requirements Document v3.0: Lists the user requirements from the RD 3.0 in an editable, native file format.

MWS ConOps: Describes the desired characteristics of Manufacturing Workflow System (MWS) from the user’s viewpoint.

As-Is Process Document: Describes the current processes of the PEPS system through the use of graphical examples.

Additional Information

GPO has issued a Request for Information (RFI) in order to assess program documentation as well to understand the capabilities of vendors. The RFI and all applicable instructions are available at the Federal Business Opportunities website (www.fbo.gov). The RFI can be found by utilizing the ‘Quick Search’ feature and searching for ‘MWS.’ RFI responses are due on October 31, 2008.
