Sen. Salazar Pushes for Investments in Energy Infrastructure in Economic Recovery Plan WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, during a hearing held by the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, United States Senator Ken Salazar pushed for making investments in energy infrastructure a centerpiece of the economic recovery package that is being developed in Congress. “By every measure, our economy is in serious trouble, and the outlook for 2009 becomes worse by the day,” said Senator Salazar. “When Congress reconvenes in January, we must immediately pass a strong economic recovery package that gets our economy back on track in the near-term, while also taking advantage of new opportunities that will drive economic growth down the road. By making these investments, we will create jobs, reduce energy costs for consumers, and lay the foundation for America’s economic future.” Today’s Energy and Natural Resources Committee hearing focused on proposed investments in clean energy and natural resources projects designed to create jobs and stimulate the economy. The Committee heard testimony from the following witnesses:
