Sen. Salazar Welcomes Army Helicopter Battalion to Fort Carson Washington, DC – Today, United States Senator Ken Salazar released the following statement regarding the Army’s decision to move the 1st Battalion, 2nd Aviation Regiment from its current station in Korea to Fort Carson, Colorado. The battalion includes 24 AH-64 Apache Longbow helicopters, about 500 soldiers and about 150 family members. “This is great news for Fort Carson and the Pikes Peak region. It is further proof of the quality of our state’s military installations, and affirms my long-held position that Colorado’s rugged terrain and high altitude offer ideal training ground to prepare our nation’s military helicopter pilots for combat. “Moreover, I welcome
the soldiers and families of the 1-2 Attack Reconnaissance Battalion
to our state, and look forward to working on their behalf in the United
States Senate.” ###
