Sen. Salazar Announces New Communications Director

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, United States Senator Ken Salazar announced that Matt Lee-Ashley will become his new Communications Director. Matt Lee-Ashley currently serves as speechwriter and legislative assistant for Senator Salazar. He has also served as Senator Salazar’s regional representative for the Pikes Peak region and on Salazar’s 2004 Senate campaign. He is a native of Colorado Springs.

“Matt Lee-Ashley is an original member of my 2004 team in El Paso County. He has worked for me in the United States Senate as the lead military and defense expert for Colorado and on all of our major public lands initiatives including the Rocky Mountain National Park Wilderness Act and the Dominguez-Escalante National Conservation Area. He has also worked on Pinon Canyon, veterans’ issues and many other matters important to Colorado. I look forward to working with him in his new capacity.”

Matt graduated summa cum laude from Pomona College in Claremont, CA, with a BA in History and a minor in Mathematics.

Stephanie Valencia, Press Secretary for Senator Salazar, will remain as the Senator’s spokesperson. Deputy Press Secretary Michael Amodeo will soon return to Colorado to work out of the Denver office and continue his role as part of Senator Salazar’s communications team.
