Sen. Salazar: Farm Bill Veto Override Promises Opportunity

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, United States Senator Ken Salazar issued the following statement in response to Congress’ successful vote to override President Bush’s veto of The Farm Bill (H.R.2419, The Food, Conservation and Energy Act):

“President Bush’s veto of the Farm Bill was misguided and wrong. Congress was right to override his veto and enact a strong and smart Farm Bill that opens up a new chapter of opportunity for rural America, while ensuring a stable supply of healthy foods and alternative fuels - compliments of our nation’s farmers and ranchers.

“I look forward to witnessing the progress this bill will help make in the conservation of our farm and ranch-lands and the production of new and better bio-fuels, the nutritious meals it will provide for our school children, the investments it will make in our rural economy, and much more.”
