Salazar Recognizes Extraordinary Efforts of Aaroné Thompson Homicide
Detectives WASHINGTON, DC – Today, at the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children’s (NCMEC) Thirteenth Annual Congressional Breakfast and Law Enforcement Recognition program, United States Senator Ken Salazar honored the outstanding service of Aurora Police Department (APD) Detectives Randy Hansen, Shannon Youngquist-Lucy and Todd Fredericksen for their extraordinary efforts while working on the Aaroné Thompson murder case. “My years as Colorado’s Attorney General provided me with a deep appreciation for our state’s law enforcement officials,” said Senator Salazar. “I am especially proud of the outstanding work of Aurora Police Department Detectives Hansen, Youngquist-Lucy and Fredericksen, who never relented in their heroic effort to find justice for six-year-old Aaroné Thompson. They represent the very best of the over 14,000 peace officers in Colorado and 750,000 officers nationwide that work hard every day to keep our communities safe.” This year’s event is being co-chaired by Senate Caucus on Missing, Exploited, and Runaway Children Co-chairs Senators Blanche L. Lincoln (D-AR) and Richard Shelby (R-AL), and Congressional Caucus on Missing and Exploited Children Co-chairs Representatives Judy Biggert (R-IL), Steve Chabot (R-OH), Bud Cramer (D-AL) and Nick Lampson (D-TX).
