Colorado Delegation Congratulates Rockies on Wild Card Win

WASHINGTON, DC- Today, the Colorado Congressional delegation released the following statement congratulating the Colorado Rockies win over the San Diego Padres, securing the National League Wild Card spot. The Rockies overcame a two-run deficit in the 13th inning and beat the Padres 9-8. Tomorrow night, the Rockies will play their first playoff game against the Philadelphia Phillies in Philadelphia.

“Over the last three years we have watched the Rockies go from “rock-bottom” to “Rocky Mountain High,” said Senator Allard. “I’m convinced that Matt Holiday is the National League M.V.P. and that Troy Tulowitzki has earned “Rookie of the Year” honors. As the hottest team in baseball, I’m confident that the Rockies will take care of business against Philadelphia and continue their winning streak in the playoffs. I look forward to a successful end to an already magical season for the Rockies and I wish the entire organization all the best,” said Senator Wayne Allard.

“The Rockies are the hottest team in baseball right now, and the whole state of Colorado is pulling for them. The Rockies’ team represents the dogged determination prevalent here in the Rocky Mountain West. GO ROX!!!!” said Senator Ken Salazar.

“The Colorado Rockies are on the move. As a devoted fan, I was thrilled with their dramatic come-from-behind win early this morning. With the kind of clutch play they have demonstrated this season, I am confident they will climb the mountain and win the World Series,” said Rep. Diana DeGette (CO-01).

“The Rockies this season have shown true Colorado grit. They are the hottest team in baseball right now which makes the Philadelphia Phillies the unluckiest team in the major league. Drink lots of water, fellas, and get ready for Colorado altitude in the Rockies,” said Rep. Mark Udall (CO-02).

“I commend the Rockies on their hard fought victory last night and want them to know that all of Colorado stands behind them as they prepare for the playoffs this week. Philadelphia is a good team but I am confidant that will only be the Rockies first stop on the way to the World Series,” said Rep. John T. Salazar (CO-03).

“It’s great to see good fall baseball here in Colorado. The Rockies streak was been amazing to watch as they catapulted themselves into the playoffs. Coors Field is an amazing place because you get a great view of the mountains beyond the outfield and now it couldn't get any better than the Rockies hosting playoff games at Coors Field. Congratulations guys!” said Rep. Marilyn Musgrave (CO-04).

“The Colorado Rockies come from behind victory last night represents the spirit and determination of all Coloradans. This team refused to give up and their talent and perseverance in a tough season against some of the best teams in baseball paid off. Go Rockies!” said Rep. Doug Lamborn (CO-05)

“I congratulate the Rockies on their spectacular come-from-behind win over the Padres and wish them luck in the National League playoffs,” said Rep. Tom Tancredo (CO-06).

“I would like to congratulate the Colorado Rockies on their National League Wildcard victory last night. All season long they defied the odds and never gave up. All of Colorado is proud of the Rockies’ hard work, determination, and success. I wish them the best of luck for the rest of the playoffs,” stated Rep. Ed Perlmutter (CO-07).
