Washington, D.C. – Senator Frank R. Lautenberg (D-NJ) issued the following statement on the news of the resignation of Amtrak President and CEO Alex Kummant:

    "Mr. Kummant led Amtrak through a period of record ridership and I wish him well.  Our new Amtrak law presents a vision for the future of travel, and, in implementing that law, Mr. Kummant's successor will have a critical responsibility to help reform and expand passenger rail service in our country.  I look forward to continuing to work with Amtrak to provide travelers with convenient and energy-efficient train service across the nation."
