Bayh to Host 6th Annual Job Fair & Small Business Summit Oct. 15 in South Bend

Washington — Senator Evan Bayh today announced that he will host his 6th annual Job Fair, Job Training and Small Business Summit at Indiana University South Bend’s Student Activities Center in South Bend on Oct. 15 to help connect job seekers with local businesses in this challenging economic environment.

Bayh, a member of the Senate Committee on Small Business & Entrepreneurship, encourages Hoosiers to take advantage of the myriad resources that will be made available to help workers. Last year, more than 5,000 job opportunities were available at Bayh-sponsored summits across the state.

Many area companies looking to hire will be at the event, and job training and employment assistance services will be provided to job seekers. Also at the summit, local entrepreneurs can consult with experts to help them seek capital to effectively grow their small businesses.

“In these difficult economic times, it’s absolutely essential that Hoosiers are fully informed about the job opportunities and federal resources that are available to them,” Senator Bayh said. “This fair will have a wealth of resources to help Hoosiers find and retain good-paying jobs. It will be especially useful for those who own or work at one of Indiana’s small businesses, which are the lifeblood of our state’s economy.”

More than 45 local businesses are expected to participate with an estimated 350 job opportunities available. The South Bend Job Fair, Job Training and Small Business Summit is co-sponsored by Indiana University South Bend, the Service Corps of Retired Executives, Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana, the St. Joseph County Chamber of Commerce, the Small Business Development Center and WorkOne.
