Senate Internships

Senator Jim Webb and the Summer 2007 Interns

Thank you for your interest in my office's internship program.

Students interning for Senator Webb will have the opportunity to learn about the legislative process and get a firsthand look at how the federal government works.

Full-time and part-time internships are available in Washington, DC and Virginia offices year round.

Due to the large number of applications we receive, our office is unable to offer an internship to everyone who applies. Interested candidates should fill out an application and send it in with a resume and cover letter stating why they want to intern for Senator Webb and what they expect to accomplish. Preference will be given to Virginia residents and in-state college students.

Washington, DC Internships

Interns in the Washington, DC office will get an up close look at the legislative process and see how the U.S. Senate functions. DC Interns research legislative issues, help give tours of the Capitol, attend committee hearings, and provide administrative support to Senator Webb and his staff.

State Office Internships

An internship in the State office allows students to see how Senator Webb's work helps Virginians throughout the Commonwealth. Interns assist in research as well as special projects and events. They also perform various administrative tasks such as greeting guests, drafting correspondence, and sorting mail.

For further information about internship opportunities in the Washington, DC office please contact Kathy Wilmoth at (202)-224-6899. For more information about interning in the State offices, please contact Hope Elliott, at (804)-771-2221.
