Environment and Public Works Committee Press Conference

   Date: 11/20/2008

Senator Sanders joined his colleagues from the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, including Chairman Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.), at a Capitol Hill press conference to announced that they will introduce major global warming legislation early next year, saying Barack Obama's election meant a "sea change" in the battle against climate change. This legislation will be introduced in January to cut global warming gas emissions by spending up to $15 billion a year to spur clean energy innovation and to direct the E.P.A. to set up a cap-and-trade system to stem greenhouse gas emissions.
