Congresswoman Tsongas hosts the first meeting of the
Fifth Congressional District Veterans Advisory Committee
Caring for our active duty personnel, their families and the veterans that have served our country so bravely is one of my top priorities while in Congress. As the daughter of an Air Force Colonel, I have a unique understanding of the needs and concerns of our military families and I will always work to ensure that we honor the service and sacrifice of our military.
I recently hosted the second meeting of the Fifth Congressional District Veterans Advisory Committee. The Committee, which will meet on a regular basis, will bring together local veterans, elected leaders, veteran agents, and other veterans care representatives, to identify ways to better serve Fifth District veterans and their families. Members of the Advisory Committee will work to address the needs of veterans in the areas of outreach, housing, health care, education, employment and family support through the development of legislative initiatives and community partnerships. Additionally, the Committee will work to support veterans returning from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and to support families of servicemen and women serving overseas.
I have also hired Chris Keohan, a member of my staff in my Lowell office who is dedicated to serving veterans in the Fifth District. Please do not hesitate to contact him if you have any questions or need help making your way through the processes of the VA.
