For the past sixteen years, I have brought together outstanding high school students from across New Mexico for a half-day conference to discuss the important issues facing our country. This program, called the Student Leadership Institute, or SLI, helps students increase their awareness of public policy and encourages their involvement in its development.

Seminars

At SLI 2004, high school students had the opportunity to attend three of the six policy seminars led by my legislative staff from Washington, D.C. These seminars addressed many of the major issues we face in Congress such as education, health, national security and environment.
