For the past fifteen years, I have brought together outstanding high school students from across New Mexico for a half-day
conference to discuss important policy issues facing the nation. This conference, called the Student Leadership Institute (SLI), helps students become more aware of public policy and encourages
their involvement in its progression.
At SLI 2004, students will have the opportunity to attend three policy seminars led by my legislative staff from Washington, D.C.
These seminars will address many of the major issues that we face in Congress, such as education, health care, environment and national security.
