Sen. Sessions Comments on the Nomination of Judge Michael Mukasey

U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) made the following comments after the Senate Judiciary Committee approved the nomination of Judge Michael Mukasey as Attorney General:
“I am pleased that the Senate Judiciary Committee took the important step of favorably reporting the nomination of Judge Michael Mukasey to the full Senate for its consideration. Judge Mukasey is an extremely qualified nominee. He has demonstrated an adherence to the rule of law and the independence and integrity necessary to serve as our next Attorney General. Judge Mukasey has earned bipartisan support and confidence from the committee and from those who have worked closely with him during his professional career. I was happy to offer my support during the Judiciary Committee confirmation process, and I believe that as a man of good judgment, clear thinking, and broad experience Judge Mukasey should be swiftly confirmed by the U.S. Senate.”
