Sen. Hutchison Announces Over $1.5 Million in Grant Funding for Texas Law Enforcement, Emergency Response
76 Texas Cities to Receive DHS Funding for Equipment and Training

WASHINGTON -- Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX), Texas’ senior senator, today announced $1,545,083 in U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Commercial Equipment Direct Assistance Program (CEDAP) grants to provide equipment and related training to enhance overall preparedness and first response capabilities for Texas law enforcement and emergency responders.

“These grants will provide our law enforcement officers and first responders with the resources they need to protect our communities and save lives,” Sen. Hutchison said. “This equipment will help these brave men and women better prepare for and respond to emergency situations.”

According to DHS, these grants will be used to equip and train smaller jurisdictions and eligible metropolitan areas to improve their capability and capacity to respond to urgent situations. Funding will be used to provide CEDAP personal protective equipment, thermal imaging, night vision and video surveillance equipment, chemical and biological detection equipment, information technology and risk management equipment and interoperable communications equipment.
