Sen. Hutchison Announces $315,999 Research Grant for the University of Houston
WASHINGTON -- Texas’ senior Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX) today announced that the University of Houston will receive a $315,999 research grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF).
“Collaborative research is vital to American competitiveness in an increasingly global economy,” Sen. Hutchison said. “These funds will help the University of Houston expand its reputation as a world leader in science and technology research.”
The grant will support a project entitled, “Collaborative Research: Phase II Development of an Innovative Multi-functional Smart Vibration Platform," which is under the direction of Dr. Gangbing Song, Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering.
Sen. Hutchison is a senior member of the Commerce Science, and Transportation Committee, which authorizes the NSF, and the Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice and Science, which funds the NSF budget.
