Sen. Hutchison Gives Legislative Update At Brazosport Area Chamber of Commerce Event
Continues Three Day, 600 Mile Bus Tour to Meet with Gulf Coast Texans

WASHINGTON -- U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R–TX), Texas’ senior senator, today met with constituents, members of the business community, and local officials at a meeting hosted by the Brazosport Area Chamber of Commerce in Lake Jackson at Sea Center, Texas.

“I was pleased to meet with Texans from Lake Jackson County today to update them on what I’ve been doing in Washington to address the issues that are important to them,” said Sen. Hutchison. “As I travel to Lake Jackson and other Texas communities this month, I am most interested in hearing directly from Texans so I may better represent them in the Senate.”

Sen. Hutchison provided a legislative update to 50 people on issues, including taxes, the economy, and energy. Also in attendance were Lake Jackson Mayor Bob Sipple, State Senator Mike Jackson, State Representative Dennis Bonnen, and Brazoria County Judge E.J. Joe King.

Today is the second day of Sen. Hutchison’s three day, 600 mile bus tour with 16 stops in South Texas communities. Sen. Hutchison launched the tour on Monday in Harlingen and will bring the trip to a close with an event at the San Jacinto Memorial in LaPorte on Wednesday.

Recently, Sen. Hutchison sent letters to President Bush after Hurricane Dolly in support of the Governor’s request for both a Presidential Disaster Declaration for all categories of Public Assistance and Individual Assistance, as well as a waiver of the mandatory Preliminary Disaster Assessments done by FEMA.

Sen. Hutchison is a member of the Senate Republican Leadership as Chairman of the Republican Policy Committee, is a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee and is Ranking Member of the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee.
