Funded Projects

I am pleased to announce that the local governments and organizations listed below have been awarded federal funding during the week of November 17 - 21, 2008. These resources will help Arkansans in meeting the needs of their communities.

Greenwood

The EMP Rural Fire Association obtained a $52,223 grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. This funding will be used to improve operations and safety for the department.

Little Rock

The Arkansas Department of Transportation obtained a $25,000 grant from the Federal Highway Administration. This discretionary funding will assist with the administrative, advertising and promotional support of the Corridor Management Plan of Crowley’s Ridge Parkway. This project will include the entire byway from Clay County to Phillips County.

Little Rock

The Arkansas Department of Transportation obtained a $510,600 grant from the Federal Highway Administration. This discretionary funding will support the Arkansas Delta Byways Coordinated interpretive and Marketing Plan, a project that will merge and assist in the implementation of the interpretive plans of at least nine different groups that have established objectives directly involving and impacting the two National Scenic Byways in Eastern Arkansas and will develop a comprehensive marketing plan for the two byways (The Great River Road-Arkansas and the Crowley’s Ridge Parkway-Arkansas).

Nashville

The County Line Volunteer Fire Department obtained a $147,250 grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. This funding will be used to make a vehicle acquisition for the department. The Assistance to Firefighters Grants are administered by the Office of Grants and Training.

Russellville

The Universal Housing Development Corporation obtained a $311,640 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Self-Help Housing Technical Assistance Grant Program. This funding will be used to provide the technical assistance needed to assist 38 families building homes in the area.
